Students at the University of Washington have a new alternative to living in a residence hall - Nordheim Court. This recently completed complex of eight buildings has 460 beds in studio, two bedroom and four bedroom furnished suites. Students can enjoy the project's community lounge, exercise facility, spacious plaza and the natural setting of a large pond. The contemporary design, bright colors and stunning artwork have made Nordheim Court a unique addition to the University Village neighborhood. It is bold, it is vibrant, it is connected.
Seattle University has a new focal point to its campus, the Student Center. Situated at the south end of campus, the new Student Center provides a central point for students, faculty and staff to enjoy the new food court, meeting rooms, conference center and study areas. Special collegium have been created for non-resident students - comfortable rooms for studying and relaxing between classes. The building's soaring atrium with its three-story fireplace enables visitors to look to the north through campus, or look to the south towards the Archbishop Thomas Murphy Apartments and Mt. Rainier beyond.
At Radford Court, UW staff and faculty members, students, and the public enjoy views of Magnuson Park and Lake Washington from a beautiful park-like setting lined with large shade trees. Spread over 24-acres next to Sand Point Magnuson Park, the complex includes 400 apartments ranging in size from one- to three-bedrooms, in both flat and townhouse configurations. Residents enjoy family-oriented amenities including a large community center and an on-site childcare center. Each apartment contains private study areas, as well as full data connections to the University of Washington's Ethernet system.
In the fall of 2001, more than 330 undergraduate students moved into Emerson Hall where they now enjoy a wide variety of living arrangements ranging from single and double occupancy rooms, to suites with bedrooms and bathrooms clustered around common lounges. The building was designed to meet the needs of busy students, with features such as secured underground parking, an exercise room, a laundry facility, several kitchens, study lounges, and a central great hall complete with a grand piano. Emerson Hall is prominently located in the heart of the Seattle Pacific University campus and its handsome architecture mirrors the traditional themes of its Queen Anne neighborhood.
In 1997 we managed the renovation of the vintage Commodore Duchess, providing 139 updated apartments for married students from the University of Washington. Our expertise in historic renovations coupled with the unique financing structure we put together, reduced project costs by forty percent thereby keeping rents at affordable levels. The careful preservation of this landmark structure will keep it as a notable feature of the University's campus for years to come.
